Manakin
You can't make this stuff up - Manakins, the moonwalking birds.

Apparently, there is a type of bird called a Manakin which does a strange high-speed shuffling of its feet which makes it appear as though the bird is moonwalking. I must say that it's pretty interesting and funny to watch. However, the host, Kim Bostwick's demonstration of the moonwalking combined with the music really make it one to watch :D You can get more information on the PBS TV show and the dancing birds here.

Amazing bird emulates the sound of cameras and chainsaws
This wild bird emulates sounds it hears including car alarms, camera shutters, and chainsaws! This is definitely off-topic as far as technology or game stuff but it's really cool... A ground-dwelling Australian lyrebird (of which there are a couple varieties) does the usual bird stuff: prancing around, showing-off and trying to attract a mate. It's this last point where it gets interesting, though. The bird not only makes its own lyrebird specific sounds, but it can emulate nearly anything it hears and with amazing accuracy. In the video below, you can hear and see the bird reproducing other bird calls, camera...

Home-built OLED wristwatch that plays Pong
This cool project combines an OLED (organic LED) display, some clever programming, careful casing design, and a great idea to create the self-playing Pong wristwatch. I have not worn a watch in years, but I have to admit, I might wear this OLED Pong watch that somebody built from scratch. It uses a PIC microcontroller, a tiny screen, a small battery to fit into the final case. However, the creator documented his build process showing the breadboarding stage, the design of the various enclosures, and all kinds of neat stuff. Here is a movie of the final version in action: I...

Awesome animation of the inner life of a cell
No, this is not one of those boring videos you saw in high-school biology class. A friend sent me this and it's been in my inbox for a few days now as I didn't take the time to watch it until today. A team of Harvard faculty worked with a professional Lightwave animator to create this video depicting the inner workings of a living cell. Believe it or not, the animation is mostly accurate based upon current scientific data according to the article. In the interest of creating a more interesting video, it sounds as though two creative liberties were...

Video of a rather unique Michael Jackson impersonator
You've seen impersonators before, but probably not like this! Move over, fat Elvis, skinny Elvis, and even you regular Michael Jackson impersonators! There's a new master in town and he wants your turf! Taken in the NYC Central Station, this MJ wanna-be rocks small-style... Watch the video here. ...

Lego robot automates the burning of many CDs
Oh, what can't you do with Lego... This clever project turns ordinary Lego bricks, along with a good amount of electronic wizardry, into an automated CD (and presumably, DVD capable) burning machine. Many of the commercial CD duplicators that you can buy for small office use are based upon an HP inkjet printer that's been modified. That's neat, but it really lacks the "nerd cool" that this device offers. Of course, to be honest, there is quite a bit of non-Lego stuff in this project including plywood, stainless steel slide rails, and other supporting stuff. It all comes-together rather...
