Video showing a hard drive operating

by @ 1:17 pm. Filed under Hardware

Hard drive
Ever wondered what the internals of a hard drive look like when they're operating?

Pretty much anyone who's the least bit into technology knows the basic design of a hard drive and may even understand what "seek time" means. Usually, the seek times are in milliseconds on most modern hard drives, yet to the average person, myself included, it's hard to actually understand just how fast that is.

Well, this video from Colorado State University, shows a hard drive with a transparent cover which allows you to see the head seeking operations and just how fast they really are. Pretty cool!
