I know, I know... I haven't been posting a lot lately. It's a number of factors mainly stemming from a job that siphons every bit of life and excitement out of me every day, leaving nothing left for hobbies and other fun stuff.

But anyway, I'm leaving for a week in Walt Disney World and also week in Bonita Springs, FL tomorrow. I jumped on the WDW "buy 4 get 3 free" special and am staying at a "deluxe resort" because the nearly half-price special is the only way I'm gonna be able to stay in a $300+/night resort! Naturally, my first choices were the Contemporary and then the Polynesian, since both are on the monorail, but both were full. So, I did the best I could and grabbed the Yacht Club since it's walking distance to Epcot.

Follow me on Twitter (micsaund naturally) if you want to see periodic updates and photos.
Taken recently by my sister, this shot shows a peaceful morning in Celebration.

Lucky enough to live within a short drive of Disney World, my sister recently enjoyed a weekend in Celebration. During that time, she captured this shot of the theatre and lagoon, devoid of wind, weather, and tourists. This is quite a difference from what I've seen on my one trip to Celebration, where tourists (myself included) were mobbing the picture-perfect town.

I'm sure the residents are used to seeing this side of the Disney-run town, but for those of us not lucky enough to live there (or near), this is an interesting insight into what it's like during the "off time" of the day.

As I'm sitting here working on the site, about the turn-on the electric heater to fight-off the nightly Colorado winter chill, I thought I'd browse through some photos I took on my last trip to Florida.

These photos were taken in June of 2004 during my last vacation. The shots are from a time-share we had in Captiva Island, obviously before the hurricanes ravaged the gulf coast. After the hurricanes, at least one of which hit pretty much dead-on into Sanibel and Captiva, there is obviously not as much beauty to be had. The resort, whom I will not link to due to a very bad experience on this trip, has been closed for repairs since 2004 - that's how bad the damage was. Of course, 2005 provided no relief from the storms, which did not help.

As you can see, the porch is screened-in, as any good porch in Florida is, or else it's pretty much unusable. However, you can still see the wonderful sunset and also a daytime shot from a roughly similar angle.

I need to get to Florida, if not to live, to at least visit. Until then, I have my photos and Brian's Great Florida Experiment (the Prologue is almost a 100% accurate description of my situation, minus the six-figure salary ) to get me through the days.
